Adventure awaits at Aberdovey

Second Year pupils enjoy the scenery during a trip to Aberdovey

During the last week of the academic year, more than 100 adventurous Second Year pupils headed to Wales to take part in a challenging adventure at Outward Bound Aberdovey.

The trip is a great way for our Second Years to try new activities and meet new friends. The course was split to include an overnight expedition with wild camping and two big days out. Each group enjoyed different activities which included canoeing, scrambling and even pier jumping!

The activities really pushed everyone to work on their teamwork skills, and encouraged the pupils to step out of their comfort zones and try new activities.

Evan Rodgers took the opportunity to challenge himself. He said: “I enjoyed the hike because it was something I had not done before – I really enjoyed the view from the top of the hill we went up. I also took part in the pier jump which was really fun. I would definitely recommend this trip to others because it’s really fun and you make new friends.”

By the end of the trip, the pupils were excited to enjoy marshmallows and ice cream around the campfire.

Outdoor Activities leader, Mr Adam Hughes said: “Myself and the staff team had a fantastic time watching our pupils throw themselves into this quite daunting week. The commitment and positivity we saw has made us proud to be part of this trip.

“I hope everyone has taken something away from the experience that will help them as they progress through the rest of their time at SGS, and has made new friendships and had lots of fun along the way.”
