Fun, friendship and adventure on Junior School residentials
Dearne Valley, the Hollowford Centre and Tower Wood were the spectacular locations for the residentials for Year 4, 5 and 6 pupils.
Year 4 Residential – Dearne Valley
The girls and boys on the Year 4 residential to Dearne Valley had an unforgettable time.

From the moment they arrived, the children threw themselves into a wide range of outdoor challenges designed to build essential life skills such as communication, problem solving, leadership, resilience, independence and teamwork.

Activities including raft building, climbing, and bushcraft encouraged pupils to step outside their comfort zones, work collaboratively and support one another as they overcame fears and achieved personal goals.

The Dearne Valley experience left a lasting impression on the pupils, equipping them with confidence, resilience and skills that will serve them well both in the classroom and beyond.
Year 5 Residential – Hollowford Centre
During their residential to the Hollowford Centre in Castleton, Year 5 pupils threw themselves into everything they did with energy, excitement, and a sense of adventure.

The sun was shining as they began their first activities of orienteering and problem solving. The teams quickly learned to work together and listen to the advice of their group leader.
For the remainder of their time there, each group had the opportunity to take part in activities including caving, raft building, zip-wire, bouldering, high ropes and a walk up to Mam Tor.
Year 6 Residential – Tower Wood
Year 6 pupils thoroughly enjoyed a four-day residential to Tower Wood in the Lake District.

The coach to the venue was buzzing with excitement as the girls and boys looked forward to the fun activities that awaited them.
During the day the group tried to fit in between small spaces as they went caving, and they climbed high onto a platform and tried to touch a ball at the top of the leap of faith as they jumped off.

Raft building was “challenging but fun to do” and the pupils enjoyed tackling ghyll scrambling as they climbed up a waterfall.
In the evenings after dinner the children enjoyed some free time outside.

On the ride home, the bus was a lot quieter as the pupils were exhausted from doing all of the great activities.

Evie H said: “It was fun and awesome; I couldn’t have had a better residential,” while Reeva N commented “I loved doing the activities with all of my friends.”
Lara S exclaimed: “It was one of the best SGS trips I have ever been on!”
