GCSE Results 2026: Congratulations to our fantastic Fifth Years

Four Fifth Year boys pose with their results during GCSE Results Day 2026

Stockport Grammar School is proud to celebrate another year of impressive GCSE achievements, with pupils securing excellent results that will allow them to progress to an exciting and varied selection of A Level subjects.

This year, 63% of grades were 9,8 and 7 with 23% being the highest grade of 9.

Almost 96% of pupils achieved a 5 and above in Maths and English with 100% of pupils achieving 9-7 grades in Further Maths. All pupils who studied Drama, German, Statistics, Music, Religious Studies and EPQ achieved 9-4 grades.

Biology, Chemistry and Spanish await Erina at A Level. She said she was “very pleased” with her results and is looking forward to Sixth Form with her friends come September.

Haywood “worked really hard” throughout the last school year to achieve eight 9s and one 6 at GCSE. The word he would use to describe SGS is “teamwork” and Haywood revealed he is excited to study his A Levels.

Alexis was “really excited” and “really happy” with her results. One of the highlights of her time at SGS is the friends she has made, and talented musician Nathan echoed this statement, commenting that he loves the “community feel” at SGS.

Flo, who was “very happy” after opening her results envelope, has thrown herself into a range of activities – such as music and sport – during her time in the Senior School. She is excited to take art at A Level.

Darcy was “nervous, but pleased” with her GCSEs. She is a big fan of the co-curricular side of school life and loved drama and sport.

Holly praised the support the teachers offered her throughout her Senior School journey, and her brother Ben enjoyed “the learning experience overall”.

Head, Mrs Sarah Capewell said: “I am so proud of our pupils for their outstanding GCSE results. These outcomes reflect their hard work, determination, and resilience, supported by the dedication of our staff and the encouragement of families.

“The results are a testament to the strength of our school community and the high aspirations our pupils hold for themselves. I wish them every success as they take the next steps in their education and future careers.”
