A celebration of adventure and friendship on First Year residential
As the 2025-2026 school year drew to a close, 124 First Year pupils embarked on an unforgettable residential trip to Tawd Vale Activity Centre.
This end-of-year experience was more than just a getaway; it was a celebration of their first year at Senior School and a chance to bond beyond the classroom.
After a short coach journey, the pupils were welcomed by the High Adventure staff, who showed them around their campsite for the next three days.
Following a brief induction, they were divided into activity groups and took part in a wide range of exciting activities, including canoeing, paddleboarding, archery, climbing, axe throwing, bushcraft, circus skills and nightlines.
Pupils also enjoyed free time outdoors with their friends, making the most of a phone-free trip. Popular activities included swingball, spikeball and boules.
The evening programme featured a campfire, quiz night and a sports evening.
As the pupils returned to school by coach, they reflected on the many lasting memories made and the variety of new experiences they had gained alongside their peers.
The trip was a fantastic success, with pupils demonstrating enthusiasm, resilience and excellent teamwork throughout their stay.
One pupil heralded it as “a very exciting experience – climbing was my favourite”, while another said: ” My favourite activity was the paddle boarding and the best food was the curry”
A final pupil concluded: “I enjoyed tree climbing and night line the most and would recommend the trip”.
