27 Religious Studies and Art pupils enjoyed an enriching cultural trip to southern Spain where they explored some of the region’s most iconic landmarks.

Highlights included visits to the Alhambra in Granada, the Mosque–Cathedral of Córdoba, Seville Cathedral, a vibrant flamenco performance, and the birthplace of Pablo Picasso in Málaga.

The travelling party were captivated by the rich blend of history, architecture, and artistic heritage throughout the trip, with many describing the Alhambra as a particular highlight due to its stunning Islamic design and serene gardens.

The group were fortunate to witness the special decorations in Cordoba that marked the 600th anniversary of the recitation of the Holy Way of the Cross in the West, adding a unique and memorable dimension to the experience.

Art Teacher Mrs Becci Upton said: “From Cordoba to Coldplay, the Alhambra to Abba, Seville with the flamenco magic and Malaga with its Parisian charm and Picasso picante, every city was jam packed with mind-blowing architecture and cultural enrichment, and it has given all of our pupils some serious cultural capital.

“They beavered away in their sketchbooks and travel journals, making notes on the information shared by the tour guides and drawing their surroundings at pace.

“The pupils were superb and many carried on working into the evening at Sketchbook Club back at the hotel with great passion and enthusiasm.

“A fabulous trip with fabulous pupils and teachers.”
