Charity afternoon delights Juniors
The Junior School’s Charity team were thrilled to raise a spectacular £1,774 for The British Red Cross during the final charity event of the year.
Year 6 pupils set up a wide range of games and stalls for children from all year groups to enjoy.
Some of the games tested pupils’ kicking and throwing skills. One in particular, soaking the teachers with sponges, was a favourite with a lot of the girls and boys!
The event linked in with the school ethos of helping others whenever possible and the Charity Team were keen to thank everyone who donated, and to the Stopfordian Parents’ Association who kindly funded the prizes for the stalls.
After creating and running the games during the charity afternoon, Year 6 pupils were keen to have a go themselves.
Therefore, they held their own fair – organised by the teachers – where they had a wonderful time playing games their friends had created.
The children enjoyed winning prizes, soaking their favourite teachers and ‘wanging’ wellies as far as they could!
Pupil Charlie McC said: “I thought it was exciting and really good fun that we got to run stalls for our friends, but also play everyone else’s.”
