A group of adventurous climbers took in stunning views during their week-long trip to Spain.

Calpe, a town on the Mediterranean coast, was home for the pupils and staff members Outdoor Education Co-ordinator Mr Hughes and Head of Hockey Miss Withington.

The group had lots of fun tackling different ascents and embracing Spanish life.

They scaled rockfaces in Calpe and Bellus and explored the Channel of the Waters, which were built in Muslim times (8th-10th centuries), and the Cave of the Petxina.

They enjoyed sampling the great cuisine on offer and delighted at spotting some flamingos in the water under a full moon during one of their walks home in the evening.

Trip organiser Mr Hughes said: “The trip was a great success, and we were able to climb every day despite some challenging weather.

“Pupils challenged themselves and progressed well with their climbing throughout the week.

“Villa life was the best it has ever been, as pupils prepared a range of delicious meals in small groups and chilled out in/by the pool. We also enjoyed beach walks in the evening with ice creams as the sun set.”
