Divot-ted to SGS: Bursary Golf Day 2025
Under sunny skies at Stockport Golf Club, teams from across the SGS community teed off in support of the Bursary Fund at our annual Golf Day, in association with Vernon Building Society.

Sixteen teams – featuring parents, Old Stops, and local businesses – enjoyed an afternoon of friendly competition, followed by a lively evening of dinner, an auction, and a raffle.

The event brought together supporters united by a shared goal: to help ensure that an SGS education remains accessible to all, regardless of financial background.

Currently, 84 pupils benefit from bursary support at SGS. Thanks to the generosity of our players and sponsors, the day raised over £9,600 – a fantastic contribution!

Competition on the course was tight, but it was the team from Belle Vue Coaches who clinched the top spot in the four-ball team Stableford, taking home the coveted trophy. HB Accident Repair secured second place, with Ben Thorp’s team finishing strong in third.

Special congratulations go to David Huxley (Vernon Building Society) for winning ‘Nearest the Pin’, and Nick Ford (Littlewoods Butchers) for the ‘Longest Drive’.

A huge thank you to everyone who took part and supported the day. Your contributions make a real difference.
