Hallam Hall hosts wonderful Winter Concert
The magnificent Hallam Hall was the venue for the wonderful 2025 Winter Concert as six ensembles entertained an appreciative audience.

Senior Percussion opened the concert with Duke Ellington’s ‘Caravan’ before moving on to play ‘Recycled’ by Julie Davila using buckets and empty containers.

‘Open String Samba’ and ‘The Wind That Shakes The Barely’ were delightfully delivered by Junior Strings before Junior Percussion performed two songs – ‘Balafon’ by Walt Hampton and ‘Crossover’, a piece devised by the school’s peripatetic Music teacher Mark Landon.

Junior Woodwind impressed with ‘Dusty, The Bin Man’ and ‘The Bare Necessities’ (Bruce Reitherman and Phil Harris) whilst Intermediate Percussion thrilled the audience with two very well-known pieces, Europe’s ‘The Final Countdown’ and ‘In The Hall Of The Mountain King’ by Edvard Grieg.

Second Orchestra brought the concert to a conclusion with Ling’s ‘Battle Zone’ and Phillips’ arrangement of Antonín Dvorak’s ‘Slavonic Dance No. 7’.
