Like, Literary 2026 explores minorities and majorities
The latest edition of the school’s annual literary magazine, Like, Literary, was launched during the final week of the 2025-2026 academic year.
This year’s edition tackles the compelling theme of ‘Minorities and Majorities’ and examines how these concepts influence the world around us.
Articles cover literary criticism, philosophy, classical studies, politics and world affairs, music, psychology, physics and maths, and medicine and they expertly showcase the outstanding writing of our pupils.
Editor Phoebe F wrote about the breadth and significance of the theme in her Editor’s Letter, highlighting the many different forms that minorities and majorities can take and how these interact, shape and influence the societies in which we live.
In her foreword, staff editor and English Teacher Ms Helen Roberts reflected on the evolution of the magazine since its creation. This edition was the final one of Ms Roberts’ time at SGS as she moves on, and she commented: “Reading this edition, I was struck by the strength of its thematic approach and the compelling way the writers demonstrate how issues of minorities and majorities shape every aspect of our society.
“There is so much here to engage and challenge the reader: from social commentary to literary and musical criticism, from scientific inquiry to explorations of the ancient world.”
