Lisbon tour scores big with rugby players

During the October half term 45 pupils enjoyed a fantastic rugby tour to Lisbon, combining sport, culture, and some unforgettable experiences.

The group stayed in Caparica and took part in a packed itinerary that included sightseeing in the Portuguese capital, competitive fixtures against local opposition, a surfing experience on the Atlantic coast, and a tour of the famous SL Benfica stadium, the Estádio da Luz.

One of the standout features of the trip was the exceptional hospitality shown by our Portuguese hosts throughout the tour.

Pupils embraced every opportunity, both on and off the field, representing the school superbly and demonstrating excellent conduct, teamwork, and sportsmanship at all times.

The surfing session proved to be a particular favourite, with many pupils catching their first waves under the guidance of experienced instructors.

Another memorable highlight was attending a live Portuguese men’s rugby match, where pupils experienced the passion, atmosphere, and excitement of rugby in a different sporting culture.

The tour was a tremendous success, providing pupils with opportunities to develop their rugby skills, build new friendships, and gain a greater appreciation of Portuguese culture.

We are extremely grateful to all the staff, tour organisers, and hosts who helped make the trip such a rewarding and enjoyable experience. We would also like to thank our parents and pupils for their support, enthusiasm, and commitment in making the tour possible.
