Sunny Spain the perfect setting for Year 6 sports tour
Thirty-six Year 6 pupils travelled to Malaga just before the Easter break for a truly fantastic sports tour.

The trip to sunny Spain was filled with sporting achievement, teamwork, and many memorable experiences both on and off the field.

The tour offered pupils the opportunity to take part in football, hockey, and netball, with training sessions led by professional coaches at excellent sporting facilities.

These sessions provided the children with the chance to develop their skills, improve their tactical understanding, and experience high-quality coaching in a professional environment.

Alongside the training, pupils also took part in football and hockey fixtures against some excellent opposition, where they demonstrated great determination, teamwork, and sportsmanship throughout.

A key aim of the tour was to give pupils an insight into the life of a professional athlete. With two sessions each day, the children experienced the demands of a busy sporting schedule, balancing training, matches, recovery, and rest.

Between sessions, there was time to return to the hotel to relax, refuel, and prepare for the next challenge, helping them to appreciate the discipline and commitment required in professional sport.

The weather was perfect, with glorious sunshine throughout the week. The pupils embraced every moment, showing tremendous resilience and enthusiasm as they trained and competed in temperatures far warmer than they are used to in Manchester.

It was wonderful to see them continually encouraging one another, pushing themselves, and working together so positively as a team.

Away from the sporting programme, there was also plenty of time for fun and enjoyment. The pupils loved spending time at the beach, playing in the sea and making the most of the beautiful surroundings.

Back at the hotel, the fun continued with table tennis, karaoke, and diving competitions in the swimming pool, all of which helped to create a fantastic sense of camaraderie and enjoyment across the group.

Staff were especially proud of the pupils for the way they conducted themselves throughout the trip. Their behaviour in and around the hotel was exemplary at all times, and it was particularly pleasing to receive complimentary comments from other hotel guests, who remarked on their politeness, respect, and excellent manners.

They were outstanding ambassadors for the school and represented us superbly.

Overall, the tour was a tremendous success and provided the children with a wonderful opportunity to develop their sporting skills, build confidence, and create lasting memories with their friends.

It was a trip that will undoubtedly be remembered fondly by all involved.
