Theatre in Education visits boost confidence and skills
Third Year Drama pupils took their ‘shows on the road’ just before the Easter break as they embarked on a module entitled ‘Theatre in Education’.

The task for our pupils was to devise a bespoke piece of theatre in response to a brief set by one of our local primary schools to support their learning module.

The Third Years took groups from Adswood Primary School, The Ryleys School and St Thomas’ C of E Primary School on a journey through time to the age of the Vikings, explored female inventors in STEM and learnt about the Fairtrade process to create fun educational sessions which began with a set drama piece, followed by audience participation in themed workshops.

Director of Drama Mr Matt King-Sayce is proud of the pupils for their enthusiasm in performance and of their professionalism when leading activities with the younger pupils.

He commented: “Our pupils benefit greatly from this experience; it boosts their confidence through the achievement of devising and performing to an unknown audience in an unfamiliar space.

“The module also provides the pupils with the initial skills and a framework for the devising component we embark on as part of the GCSE course.”
