Year 2 embark on a full day of exploration and discovery

Year 2 pupils pose for a photo in the forest area during their Explorer Day

Year 2 looked amazing as they spent the day becoming explorers!

Building on their recent classroom learning, the adventure began with a series of hands-on activities.

The children discovered how hieroglyphics were used in ancient times and had great fun creating their own personalised hieroglyphic bookmarks.

They also learned about the pioneering fossil hunter Mary Anning and crafted their own clay fossils inspired by her work.

Next came an orienteering challenge, where pupils put their navigation skills to the test.

After lunch, the young explorers used iPads and Bee Bots to complete a digital task, before experimenting with the time machines they had constructed earlier in the term using card, dowelling and gears.

To finish off an already exciting day, the children headed to the forest area, where they designed and built imaginative den shelters for an action figure – a perfect end to their exploration themed adventure.
