Year 6 pupils proudly accept positions of responsibility
Stockport Grammar Junior School is committed to developing the skills of citizenship, personal responsibility and care for one another. As part of this commitment, Year 6 pupils were invited to apply for positions of responsibility. Below is the list for the 2025-2026 academic year.
Head Pupils
The positions of Head Pupils change each term, meaning that up to six Head Pupils are selected over the course of the academic year. For the Autumn term, the Head Pupils are Sam P and Lara S.

These roles are given to children who have shown consistent dedication to school life throughout their time at Stockport Grammar Junior School.
House Captains
Two pupils from each of the school’s four Houses are chosen to be a House Captain on a termly basis.

The House Captains for the Autumn term are:
- Arden: Charlotte S and Alston L
- Nicholson: Katy SC and Walter D
- Vernon: Julia BV and Oliver D
- Warren: Alice M and Sebastian K
Responsibilities for House Captains include assisting staff in the lining up process, collating, sorting and delivering lost property and involvement in House events.
Prefects
All pupils that enter Year 6 have the opportunity to become a Prefect. After being told about the roles and responsibilities, the interested children were invited to submit an application.

Responsibilities include helping younger children in the Dining Hall, being responsible for the upkeep and tidying of bookshelves along the corridors, and feeding and checking the stick insects in the Science Room.
Other leadership positions
There are a number of other positions of responsibility.
Sports Captains will set a consistently good example to peers, teammates and other schools and assist staff as necessary with set-up, pre-match and post-match arrangements. This year’s Sports Captains are Alana D (Netball), Matilda D (Hockey), Alissia T (Girls’ Football), Leo and Mason T (Boys’ Football), William D (Rugby), Holly B (Girls’ Swim), and Harry C (Boys’ Swim).

The Leaders of the Orchestra and Choir are selected by the Music Co-ordinator and the selection is based on musical ability, reliability and leadership. This year’s Leader of the Orchestra is Jacob T and the Leader of the Choir is Rosa H.
SGJS hold a number of charity initiatives to raise funds for a range of amazing charities. Under the leadership of the Charity Co-ordinator Mrs Lisa Turner, the Charity Reps play an integral part in getting the whole Junior School community involved. This year’s Charity Reps are Ariella W and Libbi W.

The School Council, Eco-Council and Anti-Bullying Ambassadors will be announced later in the Autumn term.
