ZooLab visit thrills and delights
Year 1 and 2 were absolutely buzzing with excitement when ZooLab came to visit!

The children had the incredible opportunity to see, touch and hold a fascinating range of animals.

These included Max, the Madagascan hissing cockroach; Athena, the Chilean rose tarantula; Milton, the Giant African millipede; Tango, the North American corn snake; Lilly, the Australian tree frog; and Chase and Status, the Mongolian gerbils.

The pupils were amazed to learn so many fascinating facts about these creatures.

They discovered that a snake flicks its forked tongue to collect scent molecules from the air and uses a special organ in its mouth to ‘smell’ where prey or danger might be.

They also found out that Madagascan hissing cockroaches make their loud hissing sound by forcing air through tiny breathing holes, a rare ability among insects!

It was an unforgettable day filled with curiosity, courage, and creature discoveries, a perfect mix of learning and adventure!
