Field trips boost skill set of Geography students
East Manchester and Llandudno were the locations for Lower Sixth Geography students as they practised data collection methodologies.
The key sites of regeneration around the Etihad Stadium, Beswick, Ancoats, New Islington and the Northern Quarter were first up for the geographers.

On a sunny day, the group worked well and with a high level of interest in the social issues and the architectural differences across these locations.

Llandudno’s lesser-known, and wild, Westshore Beach saw students wade into the sea to measure wave action, analyse beach profiles and sediment, and profile the succession and development of sand dunes and dune species.

The cold of the sea was tempered somewhat by the sun shining on the hot North Wales coast.

The skills the students picked up on the field trips will help them as they carry out their own independent investigation.
