Footballers enjoy rewarding and memorable Madrid tour
In the final week before the Easter break, Second and Third Year footballers went on an exciting and action-packed tour to Madrid, Spain.
The trip provided the boys with the perfect blend of football development, cultural experiences and team bonding in one of Europe’s most iconic footballing cities.
Over the course of the trip, the squad played three competitive fixtures against local Spanish sides. Each match was closely contested, with the level of play evenly matched across all three days.
The boys impressed with their teamwork, resilience, and adaptability against different styles of play – making the most of the opportunity to test themselves against new opposition in a different footballing environment.
One of the standout experiences of the trip was a professional coaching session led by staff from Atlético Madrid’s coaching team.
The boys took part in high-quality drills and tactical exercises at top-class facilities, gaining insight into how one of Europe’s top clubs trains its young players. The session was not only educational but also incredibly inspiring for the group.
The trip also included a tour of the legendary Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, home to Real Madrid.
Walking through the stadium’s trophy rooms, pitch side tunnel, and dressing rooms gave the boys a real appreciation for the history and grandeur of one of the world’s most successful football clubs.
Away from the pitch, the boys had plenty of free time to explore the beautiful capital city. A particular highlight during their downtime was a visit to ‘The Legends’ football museum – a must-see attraction filled with memorabilia from football’s biggest icons.
Whilst there, the boys had great fun purchasing mystery football shirts from the museum’s shop, each receiving a sealed package containing a surprise shirt from a club or national team around the world. The excitement and anticipation of opening the shirts added a fun and personal twist to the visit, with plenty of laughs and reactions as everyone revealed their new kits.
It was a fantastic few days for the squad, filled with memorable footballing experiences, laughter, and the chance to grow both as players and as a team. It was a hugely enjoyable and rewarding trip that will no doubt live long in the memories of everyone involved.
