Industrial Cadets pick up Gold Award
A group of Lower Sixth pupils are celebrating after successfully achieving the prestigious EDT Industrial Cadets Gold Award through an exciting, hands-on engineering challenge set by John Crane.
At the heart of the project was seal design, as the pupils worked to prevent water ingress and ensure their creations remained fully watertight.
The pupils were tasked with designing and manufacturing a fully functional ‘lunchbox submarine’, including developing a controller system to operate the propellers and control speed.
From wiring and assembly to testing and refinement, the project showcased both creativity and technical skill.
The team presented their work to the EDT panel, who were highly impressed, awarding them the Gold Award and commending their innovation and teamwork.
John Crane’s engineers were equally delighted with the pupils’ achievements – an outstanding accomplishment all round!
