Stockport Grammar School Sixth Form pupils are celebrating an exceptional start to the 2026 UCAS cycle, with an impressive 463 university offers already received from top institutions across the UK.

As the Upper Sixth prepare for their A Level exams, many now hold aspirational, achievable and highly competitive offers that reflect their hard work and ambition.

Cambridge success for Sixth Formers

Among this year’s achievements, five SGS pupils have received offers from the University of Cambridge for September 2026 entry. They will join 2025 Old Stop and accomplished musician Nathan Monk, who begins his Music degree as an Organ Scholar at Trinity College. Nathan, who joined SGS as a Music Scholar, is currently completing his gap year as Organ Scholar at Southwell Minster.

Notable Cambridge offer holders include:

  • Cara Bell, Head of School — HSPS, Christ’s College
  • Annabel Huxley, School Council Senior Prefect — French and Spanish, Selwyn College
  • Lucy Johnstone — Philosophy, St John’s College
  • Tabby Bloor — Medicine, Robinson College
  • Christian Woodworth — Medicine, Churchill College

These offers continue SGS’s excellent track record of placing pupils into elite universities, including Oxbridge and other Russell Group institutions.

53 pupils receive offers from every university they applied to

In an outstanding early cycle result, 53 Sixth Formers have received offers from all their chosen universities. This includes Medicine applicants Reuben Barraclough (Leeds) and Noor Farooq (Bangor), who join Tabby and Christian in securing highly competitive medical school places.

The expert UCAS Advisers and Sixth Form team continue to support pupils as they make decisions, prepare for interviews, and navigate post offer choices.

Personalised pathways: University, conservatoires, apprenticeships and gap years

SGS Sixth Form place great emphasis on helping pupils shape a future that reflects their unique strengths, passions and ambitions.

Success in Music and the Performing Arts

This year’s musicians are continuing SGS’s strong tradition of conservatoire achievement:

  • Will Harvey — Music Production, Leeds Conservatoire (after supporting the Definitely Maybe World Tour alongside studying A Levels)
  • Dan Wood — Music, Royal Northern College of Music

Pupils are also auditioning for a wide range of performing arts courses, inspired by exceptional opportunities in Music, Dance and Drama throughout their time at SGS.

Degree and Higher Apprenticeships

An increasing number of pupils are applying for competitive Degree Apprenticeships and Higher Apprenticeships with leading national and global organisations. Current applications include roles in:

  • Accounting
  • Law
  • Engineering
  • Marketing

Gap year adventures

Many Upper Sixth pupils are planning meaningful gap year experiences, from overseas volunteering and independent travel to playing sport in Australia and New Zealand.
