U.Dance North West Festival 2026
Our brilliant dancers were delighted to be selected to participate in the U.Dance North West Festival at The Lowry again this year.

On 14 March a company of SGS dancers met at The Lowry Theatre, Salford Quays, hot on the heels of the school dance show.

The day was action-packed, with our dancers participating in a Contemporary Dance workshop with professional dancer Dave Colley, and a Jazz Dance workshop with MM Twins.

There was also a further workshop with a teacher from the National Youth Dance Company.

Alongside this, SGS dancers embraced the festival spirit, participating in TikTok and photo challenges, as well as doing a technical rehearsal on stage for our evening performance.

A highlight of the day was one of our dancers, Rosie Moore, winning the ‘Workshop Superstar’ trophy, the only award available to participating dancers. The workshop teachers and U.Dance staff voted for her as she “shined throughout her workshops, demonstrating great skill, infectious passion and a drive to learn.”

In the evening, the pupils had the chance to watch some of the other youth dance companies perform, before performing their own piece, ‘Oculus’ on the Quays Theatre stage to a public audience.

Following the performance, we are thrilled that the panel of industry professionals have shortlisted us for the National Festival. They said: “A fabulous, unique concept, beautifully executed and very bold. It’s great to see a school group working with such commitment and high standards. Well done!”
