U15 netballers are national champions
Congratulations to the U15 netball team who won the Sisters n Sport National Plate Competition!
The squad qualified for the Final Four tournament after seeing off St Mary’s Sports College (30-9), Harrogate Grammar School (34-12) and Sedbergh School (39-20) in previous rounds.
In the competition, which took place at Loughborough University, they narrowly defeated Brighton College 16-14 in the semi-final – setting up a final against Rugby School.
The girls put in a hugely impressive performance as they saw off the opposition with a 24-12 scoreline. The squad put in exceptional performances and Lola Ferris was thrilled to pick up the Player of the Match Award.
Director of Sport and PE Mr Andy Marsh said: “We are all very proud of their achievements. A big well done to all of the girls involved, and to all of the amazing staff within the sports department who have all contributed and supported their recent successes.”
The Sisters n Sport success was part of a busy period for our netballers.
A group of 14 Fifth Year and Sixth Form students travelled to Gibraltar for a tour during half term.
The girls remained unbeaten the entire weekend, playing a combination of local clubs and the U17 Gibraltar National team, who were preparing for a Netball Europe tournamnet.
Head of Netball Miss Rachel Towell commented: “The girls were a privilege to coach and a credit to SGS.”
